Merzouga 4×4 Desert Excursion

The best option is to go on our Merzouga 4×4 excursion. For those who like to visit the various and interesting locations in the Erg Chebbi dunes area. We’ll travel to the serene Merzouga oasis to witness the tradicional irrigation canal under ground. We’ll head south to the seasonal Dayt Sriji lake (if there’s water in it) and normally see a variety of species there. Pink flamingos, for example… On one side, you can see sand dunes, and on the other, mountains, and it’s a stunning view.

Following that, we’ll travel to M’ifis mines, which are located in the touristy Merzouga desert and are known for their minerals and fossils. The M’ifis mines are located on a high plateau with a wonderful panoramic view of the dunes and desert scenery, near a tiny military settlement, at one end of Erg Chebbi. The mines are still open cast and operational, and Berber miners face the daily challenge of working in pits that are more than 35 meters deep.
